The 2024 Nevada Society for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (NSDDS) Annual Meeting, held at the Four Seasons Las Vegas from October 4-6, 2024, was a great success, offering three days of top-tier education, dynamic discussions, and valuable networking.
The event kicked off with an insightful legislative update from NSDDS lobbyist firm Ferrato & CO, presented by Paige Barnes, providing key information on Nevada’s evolving legislative landscape. Following this, Dr. Victoria Farley delivered a compelling lecture on “Upcoming Treatments in HS” and shared updates from the Skin of Color Society (SOCS), setting the tone for an informative conference.
Attendees praised the event, calling it the "best meeting of the society to date." The program featured lectures on a broad range of dermatological topics, including a special appearance by Dr. Seemal Desai, President of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), who provided updates on AAD initiatives and gave a clinical presentation on "Pigmented Pearls."
The meeting showcased renowned speakers, including Dr. April Armstrong, a leading expert on psoriasis, who presented “Finding the Right Pathway in Psoriasis: New Insights & Applications for TYK2 as a Therapeutic Target in Real World Practice.” Additionally, Dr. Cesar Anderson from UC San Diego delivered an engaging session on wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
This year’s event also introduced something new: a panel for medical students. Drs. David Cotter, Victoria Farley, and Jennifer DePry shared invaluable advice about life after medical school, residency applications, and the nuances of the profession that aren’t typically covered in school. The students found the panel to be an enriching and helpful addition.
The NSDDS Annual Meeting not only spotlighted the latest advancements in dermatology but also served as a platform for the Skin of Color Society to further its mission and connect with potential new members from Nevada.
