The 2024 Colorado Dermatologic Society (CDS) Annual Meeting took place on September 20, 2024, at the Hilton Denver Inverness, offering a full day of insightful discussions and networking opportunities. The event opened with a talk from Dr. Seemal Desai, MD, FAAD, President of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and past President of the Skin of Color Society (SOCS). Dr. Desai provided an engaging update on the latest AAD initiatives, followed by a deep dive into JAK Inhibitors for Vitiligo, exploring cutting-edge advancements and therapeutic strategies for this complex condition.

Later in the afternoon, Dr. Jerry Shapiro, MD, FAAD, delivered an enlightening talk on the latest developments in hair disorders during his "Hair Update 2024" session. Wrapping up the day, Kimberly J. Miller, Executive Director of the Skin of Color Society, delivered a 10-minute presentation titled, "Get to Know and Join the Skin of Color Society," as part of the Regional Networking & Educational Symposia series. Ms. Miller also showcased the SOCS: The Go-To-Authority on Skin of Color Dermatology video, underscoring SOCS' commitment to advancing health equity and improving dermatologic care for patients of color. She highlighted key SOCS initiatives, including research grants, educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and advocacy efforts, all designed to create a more inclusive and informed dermatologic community.

Following her presentation, Ms. Miller invited attendees to a networking reception, held just outside the main session room and sponsored by SOCS. The reception, complete with drinks and light snacks, provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to connect, share insights, and discuss the day’s topics in a relaxed and informal setting. The educational symposia are supported by Pfizer, and offer a fantastic opportunity to connect with old and new friends.

The 2024 CDS Annual Meeting not only highlighted the latest advancements in dermatologic treatments but also served as a platform for SOCS to promote its mission and engage potential new members from the Colorado dermatologic community. We extend our gratitude to Nicole Goddard, Executive Director of CDS, and the CDS for giving SOCS the opportunity to be part of this informative day.

The SOCS Networking & Educational Series is made possible by a grant from Pfizer
